Contemporary R&B vocalist Vivian Green was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother was a singer and her father played the trumpet. Growing up with musically talented parents and Motown Classics blasting around the house, it was inevitable that Vivian would follow in her parents’ footsteps. Starting with the piano at age 8, then songwriting at 11, by the time she was 13, Vivian was in in a girl group called Younique. At 15, she started recording and writing at a studio belonging to multi-platinum group Boyz II Men. Her mature voice and writing style landed her a professional songwriting credit for “Dear God” on Boyz II Men’s platinum selling album Evolution. Vivian’s big break came when she landed a gig singing backup for Jill Scott, who eventually invited her on an international tour. After, she worked with Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Eric Roberson to release a demo containing the smash single “Emotional Roller Coaster”, which would steal her a record deal with Sony Music. Her debut album, A Love Story (2002) received a Gold rating with countless reviews from major publications. Vivian’s second album followed in 2005, along with a number of collaborations with reputable artists in music, film, theater and television.
Vivian Green’s Comeback
Between 2005-2010, Vivian took a break from her music to attend to her son Jordan who was born with an undiagnosed illness. Even after a long hiatus from the industry, Vivian’s music was able to stay with current trends. Music from her heart has always been her best method to portray the true essence of soul music.
